Chocolate Mint is a contentious plant as it’s so closely related to Peppermint that some people claim that it’s not worthy of it’s own title. I have to say that I’m on the fence when it comes to this, sometimes I can really tell the chocolate aroma and other time I can’t. Ours come from original cuttings taken from a plant that was bought as Chocolate Mint from a nursery in devon but when it comes to the differences I’ll let you decide. It will grow the same as Peppermint and is used in exactly the same way so you’ll probably want to keep the two apart or you’ll forget which is which.
Like all of the mint plants this one is a vigorous grower and will romp away if you let it grow in open soil so it’s best kept in a pot. All of our mint are kept in post next to each other so that not only do they look great, they’re easy to get at when we want to harvest some.
